Florence mailbox doors opening on their own?

I recently started managing a small apartment complex, and it's been quite the adventure. So, here's the weird part, one of the mailboxes in the Florence cluster, which was installed back in 2020, has had all the tenant doors found wide open, not once, but twice. Luckily, there's been no damage, and it's only tenants who have keys, so that's a relief. I checked in with USPS, and they swear it's not their fault. Has anyone else ever experienced strange lock malfunctions or issues like this?

Oh. I can recall my experience still so vividly right now. Anyway, when I poked around, it turned out there were weak springs inside the latch that are not catching fully. So I guess it might be nice to try popping one open and checking the tension before blaming the locks themselves hahaha.

Thats definitely unusual, especially with only tenants having keys. Mailbox locks can sometimes fail due to poor installation, worn components or manufacturing defects , even on relatively new units. It might be worth inspecting or replacing that particular lock and keeping an eye on it to prevent future issues. Be safe!!
