Key won't go in

So lately my key's been hard to slide into the ignition. At first, my spare worked fine, but now it's sticking too. I deliver for work, so I'm worried about getting stuck. I heard WD-40's a no-go, should I try graphite powder? Could I be making it worse?

Absolutely, it's best to avoid WD-40 and graphite. They can actually cause ignition cylinders to get gummy after a while. The ideal choice would be a dry PTFE spray, like Tri-Flow, or a silicone-based lubricant specifically designed for locks.

I dealt with a similar problem in my old work van, just a quick clean and a spray of dry lube did the trick. Have you had a chance to clean out the ignition yet, or have you just given the spare key a try?

I haven't cleaned it yet, just tried the spare and hoped for the best. I'll look into dry PTFE spray now

Yeah, definitely skip the WD 40, it can gum things up over time, graphite powder is better for ignition cylinders
